Frequently Asked Questions: Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop
Don’t see your question?
How long is the virtual Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop?
The virtual Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop is 3 hours long with a 15-minute break between sections. At the end of the workshop at noon, you are welcome to stay for an after-hours 30-min chat with Jen, the host of the workshop, wherein she will answer questions, share additional resources, and recommendations from participants. Participants who remain will be given the ability to turn on their cameras and mics if they choose.
How long are the in-person Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshops and where are they located?
The in-person Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop is approximately 4 hours, with a 20-min break between sections and many opportunities for Q&A. During the Q&A, you can ask questions using a mic, or we can read your written question for you--whatever you are most comfortable with.
Locations for the in-person workshop vary. Please check the calendar for more information.
Why is the cost $75 for in-person and $60 for virtual?
We have yet to be funded by any local governments despite training their job candidates and employees to promote. We are hoping to gain funding soon, but until then, unfortunately, the entire cost must be paid by our participants. We are fiscally responsible and do our best to make the workshops as affordable as possible. In-person costs are higher than virtual due to travel, refreshments and venues costs.
If you enjoy our resources and hope for more, please ask your union to provide our workshops.
If you know of funding or grant opportunities, please contact Jen at jen@employcalifornia.org.
Is the in-person Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop the same as the virtual one?
Yes, the content is the same, but there will be additional new in-class quizzes in the in-person workshop.
What does the Deductive and Inductive Online Resource include?
With each Deductive and Inductive Reasoning workshop, participants have 4 weeks' access to the new and improved accompanying Online Resource. The resource includes modules with lessons and quizzes with over 700+ problems that build the skills needed to successfully take the employment exam, including more timed practice exams. Should you want to extend your access after the 4 weeks, you can subscribe to the Online Resource for $10/month.
Can I sign up for only the Online Resource?
At this time, we are packaging our Online Resources with our workshops.
Will I be seen or heard during the virtual workshop?
No, only the instructors and host will be visible and audible. At no time will you be visible or audible to anyone in the class, including the instructors, so you can just relax and learn. In order to communicate questions, you can type your questions or comments into a private chat box which only the moderators will see. They will relay your questions to the instructors during the Question and Answer section.
What do I need to participate?
A computer, laptop or tablet with speakers and access to the Internet is all you need to participate in our Zoom-based workshop.
Access to the workshop on a phone is possible but not optimal due to the difficulty in viewing the instructor’s shared screen and asking questions in the chat box.
Will workshops be offered be face-to-face?
Yes! We are offering in-person workshops around Southern California. Click here to check the schedule.
Do I need to print my workbook?
The Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workbook will be emailed from info@employcalifornia.org after booking your workshop (or at a specified time if your are registering with an association). Be sure to check your spam folder as it may be there.
